Background and client information

Robert qualified in Graphic Design and specialised in illustration.  He worked in London as a freelance illustrator before becoming Art Director at Camden Graphics in 1989. He has worked as a professional cartoonist and illustrator since 1994, with his initial work appearing regularly in Punch, Private Eye and the Spectator.

Since then he has worked for many quality national newspapers and magazines in the UK including the Guardian, the Observer, the Independent, the Telegraph, the Times and the New Statesman. In these publications his work includes cartoon illustration of feature articles, topical pocket cartoons and cartoon strips.

For certain business to business and consumer clients he provides a weekly cartoon illustration to accompany a regular editorial article.  His clients include VNU Publications, Caspian Publishing, the Institute of Directors and CMP Information.

Robert’s work regularly appears in many consumer interest magazines including the Radio Times, the Oldie, Reader’s Digest, Rugby World and Decanter magazines.

He has completed cartoon illustration commissions for business publications produced by John Brown Publishing, the CBI, Cable and Wireless and Microsoft. Robert has also written gags and sketch ideas for the popular, award-winning TV animation series, 2DTV.

Charitable organisations which have commissioned work from Robert include Sharegift, Amnesty International, and Friends of the Earth.

Working with advertising agencies Robert has produced cartoon illustration to be featured in campaigns by Book Club Associates, the AA, Côte du Rhône wines and Irish Life.
